In 1961, Betty Hill and her husband Barney were driving through New Hampshire's White Mountains when they were supposedly abducted by aliens. They experienced a period of two lost hours and retained no outward memories of the events. However, under hypnosis, they told a story of being kidnapped and examined (note how I avoided the P-word) by aliens. This was later documented in John Fuller's classic UFO tome, The Interupted Journey.

Following the abduction, she devoted her life to forwarding UFO investigations and frequently complained about how over-commercialization had ruined any scientific progress.
