ENGLAND WILL PLEAD GUILTY
Pfc. Lyndie England will plead guilty to seven of nine counts against her, her lawyer Rick Hernandez announced late Friday: two counts of conspiracy, four counts of maltreating prisoners and one count of dereliction of duty. If the plea is accepted by Army judge Col. James Pohl, a panel will determine her punishment. England currently faces a possible maximum sentence of 11 years in prison.

So far in the Abu Ghraib scandal, only low-level soldiers have been charged, though many that the acts of abuse were condoned by those at higher levels. England's lawyers argued that she and her fellow soldiers were only following orders to "soften-up" the prisoners for later interrogations.
