EXPLODING GERMAN TOAD MYSTERY

Thousands of toads have exploded from a pond in Hamburg's Altona district. No one knows what is causing this; an unknown virus or fungus have been mentioned as possible culprits. The bodies swell to over three times the normal toad size, then explode, sending entrails over three feet into the air. The pond - now known as "The Pond of Death" to locals - has been closed to the public.
