EXTINCT WOODPECKER ACTUALLY ALIVE
It's not Bigfoot, Nessie, Champy, or Ogopogo, but cryptozoologists should be happy for any validation they can get. The ivory-billed woodpecker, thought extinct for over 60 years, was found in a remote Arkansas forest. The bird, so beautiful that ornithologists have nicknamed it the "Lord God" bird, was first spotted in 2004 by a passing kayaker in the Cache River National Wildlife Refuge, who reported it to a birdwatcher website. The Ivory is a holy grail of sorts for bird watchers, and a Cornell ornithologist flew down immediately to investigate.

The article details the history of the pursuit for the bird.
