MARTIAN SWAMP GAS MIGHT SIGNAL LIFE
In the past, scientists looked at water on other planets as a positive sign that life may have developed. Now they are focusing on swamp gas. Trace amounts of methane have already been detected on Mars, which leads some scientists to believe that the source mightbe living. Also, because methane is fragile and easily destroyed, scientists believe the Martian methane must have been created within the last 300 years. However, methane can also be produced through non-organic means, such as volcaones. Methods are now being devised for determing the source of methane.

-The Kansas City Star (KRT): Swamp gas may help scientists to determine whether there's life on Mars
