A seventeen year-old Russian girl named Natasha Demkina has been diagnosing medical ailments in patients using only her eyes for over six years. She claims she can not only see internal organs, but if she concentrates hard enough, can also focus in on a cellular level. Her powers began at the age of 10 following both a religious dream and a botched surgery - swabs were left inside of her following a routine appendix removal, and a second operation commenced. After that, Natasha was given her gift of X-ray vision, and has since been giving readings to clients for over sixteen years.
In this CSICOP article, writer Ray Hyman and his colleagues devise and orchestrate a carefully controlled test to determine Natasha's abilities. Rounding up a group of eight subjects, seven of whom have some medical malady, Natasha was then given a card containing an illness and instructed to name the subject with the illness.
