SETI FOUNDER MORRISON DIES AT 89
Physicist Philip Morrison was one of the most eminent physicists of the 20th century. A protege of Robert Oppenheimer, he worked on the Manhattan Project on to later became an opponent of the arms race after seeing the destruction to Hiroshima first-hand. Decades later, working with Giuseppe Coccione at Cornell, they published a paper in Nature establishing the movement now known as the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI, of course).
