APRIL "UFO" SIGHTING PROBABLY WASNT LYRID
A good number of scientists have already suggested that the strange light in the sky seen from Maine to Long Island this past April was probably not part of the Lyrid meteor shower. On April 24, 2005 people began phoning police departments to report everything from a plane crashing to UFOs in the sky, and operators quickly found an answer in Lyrid. However, Lyrid tends to be weaker in strength, and its color, direction, and time all are inconsistent with the object sighted. In this article, the author hypothesizes that it must have been a sporadic meteor, a common enough event, and reminisces to when a similar event occurred in 1966 and was witnessed from Canada to Washington D.C.
