The ghost town of Avard in North-West Oklahoma consists of a population of 28, co-op only open for the harvest, several residences, a high school gym-turned-community center-turned Vina Rae's Grill & Graze Cafe - and supposedly, at least one ghost. According to the legend, Ann Reynolds, a student at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, was driving home March 13, 1956, when she was murdered on a road east of Avard. Her charred remains were found in the car, shocking the town.
Now owner of the cafe, Vina Rae, Nan Wheatley, claims that Reynolds' ghost haunts her cafe. Why would Ann choose this of all places? Well, the cafe is built into the former high school gym - and Reynolds' husband was the school's basketball coach. Supposedly her ghost has been seen on one occasion, while others have heard footsteps and smelled something burning (the article doesn't specify if its the smell of a charred corpse or a charred burger). It's now becoming a hotspot for psychics and paranormalists.
