Passed on Tuesday along with the military spending bill, Americans will now be required to have a so-called Real ID by 2008. The ID, accused by critics as being a national ID card, is meant to prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining driver's licenses. However, not having a Real ID will also prevent you from traveling by air or Amtrak, opening a bank account, or entering federal buildings. States are required to meet federal standards within the next three years, and there is some talk of simply refusing to comply with the legislation. Strangewire.com
