A north London woman is currently on trial for attempting to drown her 10-year-old niece, who she believed was a witch. From August, 2002 - January 2004, the girl was beaten, slashed with a knife, kicked, slapped, and even had chili peppers rubbed in her eyes, which forced her to miss school.
