URBAN LEGEND OF THE DAY: DRILLING TO HELL

Two decades ago, geologists drilling in a remote region of Siberia had drilled a hole 14.4km deep when suddenly, the drill bit began to flail wildly. Clearly, they had definitive proof that after a point, the Earth was in fact hollow. However, this is nothing compared with their further discovery: geologists measured temperatures of over 2,000 degrees in the hole. They then lowered microphones down into the immense depths, and were stunned to hear the sound of thousands of suffering souls screaming in anguish.

One of my favorite urban legends (though no one has ever told it to me as being true), this one is clearly false for a number of different reasons - but we'll let Snopes do the explaining.
