In this Mr. Know It All column, interested party T.W. wants to know the deal with a supposed UFO sighting in the Ashland, Massachusetts area, and MKIA responds with the story of the Dover Demon. For those out of the loop, in 1977, three teenagers were driving home in Dover, Massachusetts, at night when they come across a strange creature with an enormous, watermelon-shaped head, orange eyes, and a thin, spindly peach-colored body. Problem is, only one of the kids sees it. Then, around midnight, someone else in town reports seeing a strange creature. More witnesses, with no apparent reason to be lying. What was it? No one knows.
The author mentions the Cree Indians of Canada, who believed in the Mannegishi, "little people with round heads and no noses who live with only one purpose: to play jokes on travelers. The little creatures have long spidery legs, arms with six-fingered hands, and live between rocks in the rapids...."
