KNIGHTS TEMPLAR HIDDEN IN MADONNA PAINTINGS?
Italian architect Renzo Manetti has published a pamphlet attesting that 14th century paintings of the pregnant Madonna were used to symbolize the continued existence of the Knights Templar. The Knights Templar, a religious order founded to defend the Holy Land, was suppressed in the early 1300s. During this time, paintings of a pregnant Madonna became popular amongst artists in the Tuscany region. Manetti believes that the child is meant to symbolize truth and knowledge, and hence the suppressed Knights Templar. Of course, the hint is that they will eventually be born again.

If this all smacks of Dan Brown-style conspiracy theories, be reassured that Manetti claims Brown has no understanding of Christian writings. However, the church is attacking his theory adamently.
