40,000 "FINDING BIGFOOT" SUBSCRIBERS HOAXED?
Last year, we reported the story of a Bigfoot expedition in California being conducted by Las Vegas show producer Tom Biscardi and a 16 member team. Internet users would be able to go to the website and pay $15/week or $60 for all 90 days of the expedition. The search is currently underway, the website reportedly has over 40,000 subscribers (this according to Biscardi, which makes the SW crew a might bit skeptical). Biscardi says he will use the money to fund the expedition, capture and study the creature, release it back into the wild, and lobby for its protection in Washington.

Recently, radio personality John Matthews teamed up with Biscardi, who was claiming that capture of Big Foot was imminent. "It's a hoax," Matthews reported after just two days out in the woods, and refused to elaborate.

UPDATE!: Check out a different opinion of Biscardi from someone who helped him maintain his website (and now runs her own Bigfoot site) in the comments for this entry. Sounds like this article is both out of date and innacurate.

Thanks for posting, Nick. I too noticed that article come through the Google News service again today. It was written months ago. Most of what's in it is out of date.

Tom is no longer in Happy Camp, where I live. In fact, he's no longer a part of the Great American Bigfoot Research Organization... he quit recently and started his own group "The Bigfoot Hunters" which includes my friend, JavaBob. They left California a few days ago to travel across country to various Bigfoot sighting locations.

And that 40,000 figure was never accurate. I doubt they ever had more than 300 subscribers at a time if that. Probably nowhere near, though with the new management it may grow in popularity. The organization Tom used to work with, the Great American Bigfoot Research Organization, lowered the price on the videostreaming months ago. It is now only $6.95 monthly. They plan to put the cameras back up somewhere and keep the videostream active though Tom Biscardi will no longer be part of it.

I remember the day Tom found out about that article. He was so upset. He phoned John Matthews to ask why he'd said it was "a hoax" and John said he'd never said that. So in that one article you have two erroneous statements... (1) Did John say it was a hoax? He claimed later on he didn't. And (2) 40,000 subscribers!?? It never happened, that I can guarantee you. I don't know how this misunderstanding got out.

I quit working for the Great American Bigfoot Research Organization last October (or November?)... I was one of their web maintenance contractors and was on their film crew last summer. It was fun while it lasted but I had to move on. They no longer have any cameras or encoders here in Happy Camp.

I've reported these things in my blog at http://www.bigfootsightings.org and on my news website at http://www.happycampnews.com/bigfootresearch.html

And by the way, it was no hoax. I've seen the evidence of the sightings here in Happy Camp and have become convinced they exist.

Hey - thanks for the detailed reply. I was curious about this, as it felt like old news, and I'm glad to hear from someone on the inside.
