BIGFOOT HITS THE HEADLINES
Big headlines in the world of Malaysian Bigfoot hunting this week, but as always, no actual animal. First off, a cast has been made of what some are calling a Bigfoot footprint, measuring 30cm by 60cm. The finder, coincidentally enough, was 28-year old Joshua Gates, host of the SciFi series, Destination Truth (why God why do these programs always have the worst names? Is it required by law that, say, any documentary show on aliens must have a play on "The X-Files" in its title? Such as, "The X-Cases" or "The UFO Files"? And then with ghost programs, it's always something boring like "Ghost Hunters," or "Spirit Chasers." But I digress).

Anyway, the team found the footprint within a day of showing up. Meaning that they are either extremely lucky, or SciFi wanted some headlines (Hey, call me Scully, but has there ever been anything of record on that channel?).

Then there's this bizarre report from a completely unnamed and questionable "source" about the history of the Malaysian Bigfoot creature. Apparently, it came into Johor from the jungles of Perek for three reasons: the fighting between guerrilla groups in the 1970's, the building of the East-West highway, and the construction of a dam. The group of creatures numbers about 40, from three different families. They like to eat fish and wild fruits. I'm wondering if their source was Destination Truth's own Joshua Gates.

Yet another story: Bigfoot seeker Vincent Chow found something interesting 200 meters after he entered the jungle: two large piles of broken sapplings and branches, along with various uprooted plants. Chow believes that this was done by Bigfoot, as he says the evidence shows that no human could have made it. An actual reason is not given.

Finally, The Independent's Jan McGirk chimes in with her own tail of hunting for Sasquatch in Malaysia. She was most impressed by a a few footprints, and broken branches about 11 feet off the ground (remember, the adult creatures are said to be 10-12 feet in height).

It's not that Strangewire doesn't support the search for Bigfoot in Malaysia. It just seems that people are attacking this with such rabid enthusiasm that they are willing to take any and all evidence that might possibly maybe suggest the existence of these creatures as truth, rather than examining it objectively. I wish they'd refrain from running to the newspapers until they'd found something substantive, or people are going to get very, very bored with this, and funding will quickly dry up.

But call me Scully.
