DEADLY CANE TOAD THREATENING AUSTRALIA
A toxic species of toad is causing an eco-nightmare in Australia, and scientists are trying to figure out how to control it. The cane toad, or bufo marinus, was brought to Australia from South America 70 years ago to control pests. However, the cane toad is very toxic - when threatened, it secretes poison into two sacs behind the head, which is lethal to any animal that eats it. So far, its victims have included snakes, lizards, water birds, and even crocodiles and dingos.

The toad has been evolving into a leggier, faster form that is sweeping over the country and causing devastation to the local animal life.
