SCIENTISTS FIND "LOST WORLD" FILLED WITH NEW SPECIES
Scientists exploring the mist-covered mountain rainforests of New Guinea have found a plethora of never-before-seen animals and plants, including frogs, birds, butterflies, palms, and possibly the world's largest rhododendron flower. The scientists were only able to reach the upper slopes of the Foja mountains by helecopter, an area of the country unpopulated by tribes who tend to stick closer to sea level. Within hours of arriving, they were already finding new life.

According to one scientist: "What was amazing was the lack of wariness of all the animals. In the wild, all species tend to be shy of humans, but that is learnt behaviour because they have encountered mankind. In Foja they did not appear to mind our presence at all."

-The Independent: Scientists hail discovery of hundreds of new species in remote New Guinea
