MUMMIFIED DOGS FOUND IN PERU

Peruvian anthropologists recently found the remains of 40 mummified dogs in a thousand year old pet cemetery in Lima, Peru. The dogs were found buried next to their owners and surrounded with treats for the afterlife. The cemetery probably belonged to an agricultural community that existed from A.D. 900 to 1350, before the age of the Inca. The burial of dogs nearby to their owners seems to be a common occurance; in some cases, the dogs were left with tools.
