CRYPTOGRAPHERS SOLVE PSYCHIC PROBLEM

In January, our favorite psychic debunker James Randi offered a very, very simple test, along with a million dollar prize: name the item he had put in a locker. That's it. Is it a cat? Is it a breadbox? Who knows. Usually, his contests go ignored by psychics who want to keep their street cred (often with claims of "there is too much negative energy for this to work"), but this time, someone solved the puzzle.

Only, it wasn't a psychic. Randi published a coded message revealing the item in the locker, in order to later prove he didn't just switch the item to prove a psychic wrong. The code:

Get it? Cryptographer Matt Blaze and a colleague did. Randi addmitted they were correct, though they're not asking for the prize money. For the answer, check out their blog.
