WOMAN DRIVEN TO SUICIDE BY DA VINCI CODE
Yes, it's one of the worst written non-Danielle Steele best sellers in the past fifty years or so, but now, The Da Vinci code has a new claim: Dan Brown's book has apparently driven one reader to suicide. In a tragic turn of events, Caroline Eldridge, a 38 year-old art scholar studying in Italy became obsessed with the conspiracies put forth in The Da Vinci Code, causing her to become paranoid. She claimed that she and her family were in danger due to knowledge she had of Leonardo after working on an exhibition about his paintings. Eldridge overdosed last May, and an inquest this past week confirmed that it was suicide driven by a paranoid episode.
